This past November, in commemoration with Cuenca’s independence celebrations, we opened a tropical immersion aviary, a facility 40 meters long, 12 meters high, and 10 meters wide. Here, more than 70 birds of 15 different species coexist in a unique landscape. In their new home, the birds have a second chance at life since all have been victims of illegal trafficking or other human inflicted risky situations. Our visitors can enter this facility and closely observe these birds to learn about their habits, the role they play in ecosystems, and how to conserve them.
