Starting Monday, Guambi, an Andean Condor from Cotopaxi came to Cuenca to be a part of Amaru Zoo.
The national bird of Ecuador arrived in the capital of Azuay to begin a recovery process after having suffered a bullet impact in one of its wings.
In spite of his condition, hope still remains and plans continue in one of the spaces near the zoo.
An area of 1,200 square meters will be the new home of Guambi, one of the highest places at the zoo.
It is surrounded by trees and will also provide educational information for those who visit the site.
With this young Condor, the country and people involved in the conservation of the species look to rescue and give attention to other animals who are threatened.
Guambi will be studied and analyzed meticulously in order to get information about his species.
At the moment, he is two years old and at six he begins his reproductive stage.
Until then, Zoo managers hope to find him a partner.
