The Ecuadorian Ministry of the Environment is the regulatory body for zoological parks in the country, controls processes, facilities, species status, and seizes and rescues species from illegal trafficking. The Amaru Zoológico Cuenca - Bioparque is regulated by this environmental authority.


The Environmental Management Commission of the Illustrious Municipality of the city of Cuenca is the entity that grants the operation patent annually and makes the records of the species that arrive at the Amaru Zoológico Cuenca, in addition they have supported with economic funds for amphibian conservation projects of the city and the Cajas National Park.
